New Internet Search Engine Offers Smut Filtering - Parents
Can Feel Safe with Breakthrough Child-Safe Searching
Has this ever happened to you? You go to a search engine
to look for something innocent like "adult education". You are
then shocked when, in the list of sites that comes up are a few that,
well, let's just say - make you blush. All because the word "adult"
was in your search.
According to Mark Joyner, CEO, Bodhi Tree Corporation, "The number
of adult related listings in your average search engine not only makes
it harder for you to find what you're looking for, but it presents a dilemma
to parents." The dilemma lies between a parent's desire to prevent
their children from being exposed to pornographic material and their desire
to give their children access to the less racy splendors of the web.
"Until now, search engines provided no tools to help parents screen
this content from their children," adds Joyner. SearchHound (http://www.searchhound.com
) offers a truly unique solution to this problem: "Child-Safe"
searching. By default, a SearchHound search will filter out sites that
include any of a number of words commonly associated with "adult"
or potentially offensive sites.
If someone searches for adult related keywords at SearchHound or elects
to search the "non-filtered" database that includes adult listings,
they must pass through a warning screen before being exposed to the content.
"The SearchHound pages that include adult listings are compliant
with all available porn-blocking software on the market," states
Joyner. Other search engines do not place the proper tags in their pages
to alert porn-blocking software of the content. SearchHound has ensured
their pages that contain the potentially offensive listings are detected
by such software as "Net Nanny" and "Cyber-Patrol".
"The system isn't perfect", concludes Joyner, "as a few
potentially offensive listings that do not include our filter words can
still be found in the child-safe listings. What we offer is far safer
than what any other popular search engine on the web has, though. We are
the first to offer this type of protection and will cooperate with parents
and concerned citizens to continually offer better child-safe service."
SearchHound is a joint creation of Bodhi Tree Corporation (Oklahoma) and
Web Genie Software (Australia). http://www.SearchHound.com
Mark Joyner is available for telephone interviews 7 days a week and in
person by appointment.
