revealed that a long-lasting precursor state is required to promote abnormal
cell growth. The cause of the precursor state is a relatively low dietary
iodine intake. The continuation of this state leads to the formation of
atypical abnormal cells and finally carcinoma in situ. At this point thyroid
hormone in adequate doses appears to stop cancer spread in connective
tissues.
These concepts should lead to better control of breast cancer and perhaps
result in it becoming a non-lethal chronic disease.
