SINGLE AGAIN After All These Years is based on the experiences,
observations and opinions of well over a hundred men and women who were
married many years, then either through death or divorce have become single
again. Included in the book are MS Broughton’s own anecdotes, as well
as others, whose experiences either parallel or contrast hers. Many of
the subjects are serious and some are even a little painful, but the book
is written with a subtle humor that makes in it enjoyable to read as well
as informative.
Men and women who are single again after having been married many years,
make up a unique segment of the singles populace. Its almost as though
they have been kept in a time capsule those many years as the attitudes
and practices of our society was changing. Therefore, when they first
become single again, it sometimes seems as though they have moved to another
country.
The transitional period following a divorce or death is usually very stressful.
It often involves changes in finance as well as residence and routine.
Some are faced with decisions and responsibilities that are completely
out of their realm, as they strive to cope.
These people often have feelings of intense loneliness and alienation
as they start their brand new lives. The relationships with the friends
they had when they were married have changed and at first, they don't
seem to quite fit in with other singles either. This book contains many
of the answers they are seeking.
Readers in this circumstance will identify with those who have encountered
the very same things that they are experiencing. They will benefit from
better understanding why they feel as they do and why other people do
the things that they do.
