DATING & BUSINESS GUIDE A HOT COMPANION
SAN FRANCISCO -- December 5, 2001 -- Pushed by the current
state of the world and economy, personal relationship books appear to
be in high demand, at least for TCB-Cafe Publishing in San Francisco.
Sales of its recently released book "Everything I Know about Dating I
Learned in Business School," have gone through the roof since the end
of the summer.
"We had a great interview on National Public Radio's show, 'Marketplace,'"
says author and business consultant A.K. Crump, "plus as we said earlier
in the summer, people really are tired and just want to forget about business
and focus on their personal lives." So much so that according to TCB-Cafe
Publishing the entire first printing of the book has been sold out or
already shipped to bookstores and distributors. TCB-Cafe Publishing's
Director of Promotions, Stephanie Green says, "We know that Amazon.com
and Barnes & Noble have a few left in stock, but we're completely out
of our first few thousand. We'll be going back to print soon to meet the
Holiday and Valentine's Day demand."
This 'guide to dating in a modern society' shows how readers can use the
basic practices of successful businesses to be successful in love. They
can have a winning love life by using techniques such as proper product
packaging, positioning, and advertising, as well as financing, negotiations,
and consulting. Additionally, if they use these "business 101" concepts,
they also may find themselves much more successful and profitable than
many recent Internet companies have, who apparently ignored these rules.
In June of 2001, TCB-Cafe Publishing issued information which predicted
that based on the market signs, both business people and singles like
Bridget Jones would be reading the same material, stating that 'people
are definitely fed up with watching the stock market go up and down. They're
ready to get back to what they feel is important...their relationships.'
In July 2001, author A.K. Crump issued a business and market forecast
that the erosion in consumer confidence would lead to a noticeable periodic
decrease in the birth rate as more couples become unwilling to take the
economic risk of a new addition to the family. This decrease would also
extend to consumer spending on items related to children, clothing, larger
housing, and furniture.
Conversely, we expect to see an increase in the amount of time people
spend on dating and courtship activities, albeit with less actual money
to spend.
