“Table 7, Your Centerpiece Is On
Fire!” Ignites Audiences
- Newest book by author Steve Gamlin finds
humor in couples’ big day.
Goffstown, NH: As the holidays approach, want-to-be-weddeds will spend
on average $3,600 to purchase an engagement ring for their loved one according
to a study by Conde Nast Bridal Group. The study also showed that 19 percent
of engagements occur in December, which is more than any other month,
as ring boxes get opened on Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Today’s brides and grooms-to-be worry about many wedding related
details. According to Hallmark, 66% of wedding couples agonize over exceeding
their budgets, 50% worry about missing crucial details. Forty percent
are concerned that their wedding receptions will not be fun, and 25% worry
that people will not attend.
As 2006 approaches, “for better or for worse, in sickness and in
health” will be heard many times. “Table 7, Your Centerpiece
Is On Fire!” by professional deejay and stand-up comic Steve Gamlin
delivers the untold stories behind what makes weddings the most stressful
and entertaining day of the year for soon to be married couples.
As a child, Gamlin enjoyed telling stories, making people laugh, and trying
to make the world a more fun place. As an adult, Gamlin’s philosophy
has not changed. He still enjoys dressing up and becoming the life of
the party every weekend while he deejays for weddings all over New England.
“Table 7, Your Centerpiece Is On Fire!” started as a collection
of over-the-phone stories Gamlin told to soothe the nerves of his soon-to-be-wed
clients. He would often receive calls from brides prior to their event
asking, in tears: “What if (insert potential disaster) happens at
MY wedding?”
In response, he began telling humorous stories about weddings with no
electricity, an uninvited flying guest, two French-speaking grooms and
more. All stories, as they should, had a happy ending. Several years later,
he began compiling his stories into “Table 7, Your Centerpiece is
on Fire!” his first book.
According to The Wedding Report for 2006, there are an estimated 2.2 million
weddings that will occur, with an average cost of just over $25,000 per
wedding. Traditionally, the father of the bride would pay for everything.
Today, however, the bride and groom themselves pay for the wedding about
30% of the time. With all the details that couples are responsible for,
and the expense of today’s weddings, it is easy to see why so many
soon-to-be-wed couples become stressed and frazzled as their big day approaches.
“Table 7, Your Centerpiece Is On Fire!” entertains us all
by providing soon-to-be-wed couples with a taste of lightheartedness that
can help calm these wonderful yet sometimes chaotic events. For more information,
